Dubai: A 16-year-old Yemeni girl reportedly shot her father dead and injured her mother and brother in Taiz, a city in southwestern Yemen, local media reported.
The girl is said to have killed her father who is an officer in the Ministry of Interior, with a handgun in their house in the village of Hajar Sinwan in the Al Maafer district of Taiz Governorate.
Upon hearing the gunshots, the girl’s mother rushed to her husband’s room, and was shocked to see her daughter point the gun at her and fire two shots.
Local media also reported that while the girl named Bushra was on her way out of the house, her brother tried to take the handgun from her, but she also shot him.
According to relatives of the victims, she was a particular favourite of her father.
The girl is said to have been arrested, while the mother and her son were taken to the local hospital for treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.
Investigation is still underway to identify the motives behind the murderer’s crime.
