Sana’a: Rocks broke off from a mountain and fell, killing 6 people, including a pregnant woman and a child, in the province of Hajja, ministry of defense said on Friday.

A local source in the district said eight people are still caught under the debris.

Rescue workers recovered the bodies and evacuated people from houses in the vicinity.

The reason behind the rock fall has not been identified.

Yemen’s deadliest rock fall occurred in 2005 in Al Dhafeer village, a small village near the capital Sana’a, when large rocks demolished dozens of houses, killing at least 60 people.
