Cairo: Strict directives have been issued for Saudi judges to avoid dealing with social media or mainstream media, Saudi newspaper Okaz has reported.
The directives urge judges not to set up accounts on social media or get engaged in electronic and print media, as this interaction runs counter to the nature of their jobs, the paper added, citing unidentified judges.
The directives have called for strict adherence, or face disciplinary action, the report said without giving details.
So far, there has been no comment on the report from the Saudi Supreme Judicial Council in charge of judges' affairs in the kingdom
Eight years ago, high directives were issued, barring judges in Saudi Arabia from interacting with different media outlets in order to safeguard judicial independence and prestige.
