Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabian feature “Last Visit,” directed by movie critic-turned-director Abdulmohsen Aldhabaan,continues its journey in international festivals, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of more than 10 international festivals, including the Red Sea International Festival in Jeddah and the Gabes Festival in Tunis, Saudi media reported.
The film is due to participate this month in two international film festivals, namely, the 50th Giffoni International Film Festival, which is held in Italy, and the Amman International Film Festival in Jordan.

The movie, jointly won the Jury Prize at the 18th edition of the Marrakech Film Festival. The film, which premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic in July, is the first feature by Aldhabaan. It also competed in the official competition in the 68th edition of the annual German Mannheim Heidelberg Festival specialised in Art House films.
Shot in remote areas of Najran, 107 km from Riyadh, the film focuses on a strained father-and-son relationship.
It revolves around a young man named Nasser who is on his way to a wedding and discovers that his father is dying. He changes his plans and goes immediately with his son Walid to a small village where his sick father lives.
The customs and traditions of this remote region weigh heavily on the relationship between Nasser and Walid.
