Abu Dhabi: A Saudi family in Tabuk Region, located along the north-west coast of Saudi Arabia, facing Egypt across the Red Sea, has transformed its creative passion into a unique tourist project in the region, local media reported.

The family set up a rest area with modern facilities, but traditional style, to serve travellers and tourists coming to the city of Tabuk and motorists travelling on its international routes, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said Saturday.

The head of the family Eng. Odeh Al Enizi said, “This project — which we are racing against time to launch, God willing, on September 9 — is a dream come true, as we decided to start carrying out our project with all enthusiasm and determination.

“Through it we sought to be one among all tourist landmarks that characterise Tabuk Region, and not just a station to serve travellers with a traditional style on highways.”

He added, “We were keen that the project will be equipped with plush motels, bazaar, 25 branded restaurants, cafes, fuel stations, and kids’ playground to cater to car and bus passengers as well as truckers.

Al Enizi pointed out that to achieve this they had transformed their home into a workshop in which adults and children participated, in order to come up with the best ideas, to apply them on the ground. The rest area serves the people of Tabuk and those travelling on its international routes to and from Medina, and the link between Tabuk land ports with Jordan and Egypt via the port of Dhiba, as well as travellers to NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion futuristic mega city, being built in the province.
