Saudi Arabia to see peak rainfall in April, forecaster says

Cairo: Saudi Arabia is expected to experience its peak rainfall in April, making it the rainiest month of the year, according to a weather forecaster.

“The peak of rainfall in the kingdom occurs in spring, with the highest levels recorded in April,” said Aqeel Al Aqeel, an analyst at the Saudi National Centre for Meteorology (NCM).

Speaking to Saudi TV channel Al Ekhbariya, Al Aqeel said the areas most affected this month, based on climate data, include Asir and Al Baha in the southwest, as well as Mecca and Taif in the west. These regions are expected to receive higher rainfall amounts than the rest of the country.

Satellite imagery shows a belt of thunderstorms forming, with heavy rain anticipated over the mountain peaks of Mecca, Al Baha, Asir, and Taif in the coming days, he added.

In its weather report for Tuesday, the NCM forecast thunderstorms with hail showers and strong dust-raising winds in parts of Medina, Ha'il, Tabuk, Al Jawf, and the Northern Borders.
