Saudi Arabia: Thunderstorms expected until Monday

Cairo: Most parts of Saudi Arabia are forecast to experience moderate-to-heavy thunderstorms until Monday, according to the kingdom’s Met Office.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said the rainfall is expected to be accompanied by active dust-raising winds with speeds reaching 50km/h, floods, hail showers, possibly high waves, and the potential for the formation of tornadoes.

This weather condition is anticipated to affect the regions of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha in the south west, Mecca, Medina, Ha’il, Al Qassim, the Eastern Province, and Najran.

Riyadh is expected to witness moderate, intermittent rain from Saturday until Monday.

NCM has advised the public to monitor weather updates and related warnings.

Several Saudi regions are expected Thursday (today) to experience unstable weather, including light- to- moderate rain, active, dusty winds, and low visibility.

Spring has already set in Saudi Arabia. April marks the peak of spring rainfall in the kingdom.

Asir and Al Baha as well as heights in the Mecca region are mainly expected to be hit by rain.
