House set up for victims of violence

Saudi Arabia inaugurated the first Saudi house for protection of children and women victims of domestic violence in Makkah yesterday.

The Social Protection House is the first step taken by Saudi Arabia to fight domestic violence. It will be run under the supervision of the Jeddah-based Al Bir society.

Shaikh Saleh Al Turki, chairman of Al Bir Charitable society in Jeddah hailed the establishment of the house through cooperation with Unicef.
