Dubai: The 10,000 pilgrims who perform Haj rituals will receive prayer mats in sealed and sterilized bags, as part of coronavirus precautionary measures and health protocols to ensure the safety of pilgrims, local media said on Tuesday.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has prepared sterilised payer rugs in line with the Kingdom’s efforts to provide safe and smooth services to pilgrims performing this year’s Haj, which starts tomorrow (Wednesday).

This year’s pilgrimage is restricted to only 10,000 pilgrims of all nationalities from within the Kingdom who already arrived in the holy city of Mecca to perform pilgrimage rites. Umrah will remain suspended until further notice.
