COVID-19: Saudi Arabia says 42 courts to work during Eid holiday

Cairo:The Supreme Judicial Council in Saudi Arabia has assigned 42 law courts to operate during the Eid Al Fitr holiday to hear urgent cases and matters related to implementation of verdicts, according to media reports.

Justice Minister Sheikh Walid Bin Mohammad, who is the council's head, has assigned 42 court and 67 judges to work during the holiday in different parts of the kingdom.

Those tribunals include 18 criminal courts, nine general courts and 15 implementation courts operating in such areas Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, Medina and Dammam.

Saudi Arabia will impose a 24-hour nationwide curfew for five days starting from Ramadan 30 including the Eid holiday to stem the spread of the new coronavirus.

The kingdom has recently shifted to remote court hearings and trials as part of anti-virus precautions.
