UAE sports commentators quit Qatar channel

Manama: UAE sports commentators Ali Saeed Al Kaabi and Fares Awad have resigned from Qatar-based belN Sports, formerly known as Al Jazeera Sport.

The resignations were reportedly related to the current political crisis between the UAE and Qatar and which led Abu Dhabi to recall its ambassador from Doha.

Ali on his Twitter account said: “Ten years of genuine professional work shall live in my heart forever.”

“Goodbye to all colleagues in BeIn Sports and my highest gratitude to the true friend Nasser Al Kholaifi,” he said, referring to the director of beIN Sports and president of French football club Paris Saint-Germain.
