Muscat The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said in a statement on Saturday that they had busted another gang forging visas and certificates in Oman.
Last week police had arrested a five-member gang, including a woman, from the Sidab area in Muscat for counterfeiting education certificates, medical certificates as well as visas.
Now, the police have arrested four members of a gang also involved in forging documents as well as visas in Dhofar region in southern Oman.
“Following a spate of complaints about forged documents and visas, the Dhofar police carried out thorough investigations and caught the gang,” Ali Al Kabi, spokesperson for the ROP, said.
He added that the gang was selling fake visas to gullible workers by charging them in excess of 2,000 Omani riyals.
The gang was caught red-handed while forging documents and visas at a house in Dhofar. “The police found computers and other articles used in forgery and a set of fake visas during the raid,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Muscat, the police have arrested two suspects from Ghala area on charges of stealing electric cables and poles from the industrial area.
“The two were caught late at night by the police patrol car when their car loaded with stolen goods was intercepted for routine check-up,” Al Kasbi added.
