Cairo: Oman Thursday recorded 590 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the country’s total infections to 79,159, the Omani news agency ONA reported.
The newly diagnosed cases include 496 Omanis and 94 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said without disclosing nationalities of the foreign patients.

The country’s overall recoveries from the disease have reached 61,421, the ministry added in an update.
In recent weeks, Oman has seen a spike in the virus infections, prompting authorities to tighten preventive measures.
Earlier this week, Oman started enforcing a full lockdown among its governorates for two weeks, including the Eid Al Adha holiday, in an effort to limit the spread of the pandemic.
