Oman: COVID-19 PCR test to be taken 96 hours before arrival

Muscat: Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority has issued an amendment on the requirement of a PCR test for those arriving to Oman on long-haul international flights.

Per the circular the a PCR test is to be taken 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of arrival into Oman. For shorter flights the PCR test needs to be taken 72 hours prior to arrival in Oman.

The circular further says that Omani citizens who tested positive after recovering from COVID-19 are allowed to travel to the Sultanate if they provide proof that they have completed the prescribed quarantine period before taking the PCR test prior to departure to Oman.

Mandatory institutional quarantine for 7 days is currently applied to all arrivals except Omani citizens, those below 18 years of age and airline crew.

Entry suspended

Oman has currently suspended entry into Sultanate for those coming from Sudan, Lebanon, South Africa, Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Entry is also not permitted for those coming from any other country if they had passed through any of these countries during the 14 days preceding the request to enter Oman.

Per a further decision, those coming from Egypt and Philippines are also not allowed to enter Oman. Those exempted from this ban are Omani citizens, diplomats, health workers and their families.
