Muscat: Four people were killed and six others sustained minor to severe injuries in a road accident on Al Muraighat Road in Birka, according to a Royal Oman Police (ROP) press release.

According to police, the driver of the car, travelling from Sohar to Muscat, lost control and hit iron barrier before rolling over to the other side of the road. After rolling over the car hit an oncoming vehicle in the opposite lane, killing four occupants of that car. Six other people were injured in the crash attributed by the police to over speeding.

In another fatal accident a 37-year-old unnamed Omani pedestrian was knocked down in Quruyat town last Tuesday.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) urges all drivers to exercise caution to avoid such accidents.
