Expat arrested in Oman after stealing 25,000 riyals

Muscat: An African expat was arrested for stealing 25,000 riyals from Omani national, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.

The accused had watched the Omani withdraw money from the bank and followed him home. When the man entered his house, the accused broke into the car and stole the money.

The expat was arrested after a thorough probe by police. He admited to the crime and now awaits trial.

Under Omani law, the suspect could face a jail term of up to six years.

The police always warn against leaving large amounts of money in vehicles.
