Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti coastguard arrested six suspected Iranian drug smugglers and seized their vessel when it entered the Gulf state’s territorial waters, the interior ministry said on Tuesday.

The suspects were detained pending an investigation, the ministry said.

A group of 12 Iranians and two Afghan nationals was also detained last week and their boat seized by the authorities after it entered Kuwaiti waters.

Kuwait regularly intercepts boats from Iraq and Iran that stray into its waters with suspected smugglers or fishermen on board.
