Manama: Kuwait’s Court of Appeals has upheld the death sentence for a Kuwaiti woman who killed her Ethiopian domestic helper.
Her husband who helped with the premeditated murder saw his death penalty commuted to 10 years in prison.
According to the case papers, the woman repeatedly beat up and tortured the helper. However, fearing she would alert authorities, the woman and her husband took the unconscious helper in their car to the desert. The wife dumped her on the ground while she was still alive and the couple ran over her.
The couple’s son testified that his mother had repeatedly hit the helper.
In February, a criminal court had imposed the death penalty on both the husband and wife.
