Manama: A high-profile meeting of Arab media leaders in Bahrain will seek to map out a concrete and realistic plan to develop Arab media, the secretary general of the Arab Media Forum (AMF) said.
"The Arab media nowadays need a lot of surgical operations to eliminate the defects and create new tissues that are vital and capable of competing with the advanced media as well as promoting themes that are up to the intelligence level of the Arab nation," Madhi Khamis told Kuwait News Agency hours before the official opening of the forum in Manama.
“This historic event will be a new movement forward to harmonize views of the people working in Arab media and to build bridges of confidence that will eventually lead to upgrading media levels in the Arab world."
Bahrain’s culture and information minister last week said that details about its award for press freedom would be announced at the three-day event.
