London: Heavy storms disrupted air, sea and road transport in Britain on Monday, while a cargo ship was swept onto a beach in France and one person reported missing, emergency officials said.

Winds gusting over 130kmph brought down trees, ripped off roof tiles and damaged power lines, cutting electricity to 10,000 homes in Wales and southern England.

Dozens of flights were cancelled at British airports.
