Moscow: Vladimir Putin's United Russia party emerged clear winners in Sunday's regional elections, provisional results showed on Monday.
Moscow's Central Electoral Commission on Monday said the results came from all nine of the local assemblies contested.
The party polled between 49 per cent and 79 percent in different regions, with a large majority of ballots counted, the electoral commission's press service said.
The opposition Communist Party came in a distant second place.
