Travel ban to Iraq likely to be lifted

The Philippines may soon lift the ban on the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Iraq following recommendations by a group of experts and several government agencies.

A study conducted by the Middle East Team, Middle East Group, along with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Labour and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) indicates that it appears there are some places that are relatively safe for Filipino workers, said Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye.

He did not elaborate which parts of Iraq are considered safe for the OFWs.
