Sindh orders reopening of shrines in province after two months of closure

Karachi: The Sindh government has ordered the immediate reopening of all religious shrines and dargahs in the province after more than two months of closure due to coronavirus in Pakistan.

The order has been issued by the Chief Administrator Awqaf of the Sindh government. The Sindh government ordered the closure of all shrines on November 23, 2020.

The administration of all the shrines has been directed to strictly observe the standard operating procedure (SOPs) to safeguard the health of the visitors. Some of the important SOPs in this regard include sanitization stations at the entrance of each shrine, compulsory wearing of masks by staff and visitors and restricting the entry of people over 50, younger children and visitors having symptoms of infectious diseases.

Sindh Awqaf Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal on Wednesday visited the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Karachi near the coastal strip of the city.

He took stock of the situation and asked the administration to make sure that visitors follow the SOPs.
