Lahore: The presence of the bird flu virus in Punjab has finally been confirmed as the deadly H5N1 virus was detected among chickens at a local poultry farm in Pindi Bhattian of Hafizabad district where thousands of the affected chickens had to be culled.
An official of the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department said the presence of the bird flu virus was confirmed at the White Bird Poultry Farm, Chiniot Road, 6 km off Pindi Bhattian in the Hafizabad district.
He said after taking over the farm, the authorities decided to cull 16,000 broiler chickens.
