Islamabad: Pakistani leaders have denied rumours that martial law was imposed overnight.
There are fears that Musharraf could impose a state of emergency or martial law if the court nullifies Musharraf's October 6 presidential victory.
"At the moment ... last night, this morning, has there been a decision to impose emergency? I say no," Deputy Information Minister Tariq Azeem said Friday.
Azeem's remarks came hours after private television news channel, Geo, said the government was in discussion on whether to impose martial law.
The report, quoting unnamed officials, was immediately denied by officials from the ruling party.
Meanwhile, intense fighting flared between Islamic militants and government troops in the northwest, killing up to 70 people.
