Karachi: The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) will host a massive public meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on October 18 in Karachi as a step forward of the newly formed alliance of the Opposition political parties’ drive against the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The date of the upcoming public meeting of the PDM has been finalized by the PPP to mark the anniversary of the deadly bombing of the homecoming rally of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on October 18, 2007 at the Karsaz intersection of Sharea Faisal in Karachi when scores of workers and supporters of the Peoples Party were killed and injured.
While chairing a meeting of the party to finalize the plan of public meeting, the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the PDM would prove to be the final nail in coffin of the anti-people puppet regime of the PTI in the country.
He said that the PDM would end the tyrannical regime of Prime Minister Imran Khan in the country.
He said that a new public resistance movement had emerged in the country as a result of the All Parties’ Conference recently hosted by the PPP in Islamabad.
A meeting of the Executive Committee of the PPP Sindh chapter was held and finalized that the public meeting on October 18 would be held at Bagh-e-Jinnah in Karachi that is adjacent to Mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
The public meeting will be addressed by the PPP chairman and leaders of the component parties of the PDM.
A large number of workers and supporters of the party will attend the public meeting to show the Opposition’s strength against the PTI’s regime.
The meeting of the PPP Sindh’s Executive Committee also adopted a resolution demanding the federal government to immediately withdraw its ordinance to establish the Pakistan Islands’ Development Authority (PIDA).
The resolution said that the federal government by establishing the PIDA had attempted to usurp land of Sindh province by occupying the two islands off the coast of Karachi.
The meeting was of the unanimous viewpoint that the two islands off the Karachi’s coast were under the ownership of the Sindh government as per the Article-172 of the Constitution.
The resolution stated that the Peoples Party was the guarantor of the rights of the provinces as by no mean it would allow the present federal government to trample upon the rights of the provinces.
