Peshawar: A Japanese journalist and an Afghan colleague were shot and wounded on Friday in Peshawar, the northwest Pakistani city reeling from an Islamist insurgency spreading out of tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, police said.
The shooting comes a day after an Iranian diplomat was kidnapped and his police bodyguard shot dead in the city. On Wednesday, an American aid worker was gunned down.
"A car chased these journalists and fired at them in Hayatabad," Superintendent Abdul Qadir told reporters, referring to the same neighbourhood where the American was killed.
