Dubai: A suicide bombing outside a district court complex in Islamabad on Tuesday killed at least 12 people and left 27 others injured, according to Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Emergency teams and security personnel rushed to the site soon after the explosion, which shattered the calm in one of the capital’s busiest areas.
The blast occurred near a police vehicle parked outside the court buildings, prompting authorities to cordon off the area and begin rescue and forensic operations. Witnesses described scenes of panic as people fled from nearby offices and shops.
Interior Minister Naqvi confirmed that preliminary evidence suggests a suicide attack, though investigations are underway to identify the perpetrator and possible motives. The incident marks the first major bombing in Islamabad in several years. Officials have appealed for calm while emergency services continue to treat the wounded in nearby hospitals and strengthen security across the capital.
