Indian politician Owaisi vows legal action over allegations of BJP-MIM nexus

Hyderabad: Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has rejected allegations by a former BJP Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) alleging a nexus in the fielding of candidates in Bihar’s elections.

Owaisi described as “baseless” claims made by former MLA Yateen Oza, in a letter to the Delhi Chief Minister Arvinda Kejriwal, that the MIM and BJB had entered a pact for the elections.

He said he would take legal action not only against the person who was making the allegations but also against all the media outlets who were carrying the news.

“My lawyers are already at work. We will send him a notice asking him to prove his allegations or face legal action. They will have to apologise or appear before a court,” he said.

Oza, who has joined the Aam Admi Party ahead of its foray into the Gujarat assembly elections, has also claimed the MIM leader had met the BJP President Amit Shah and discussed the fielding of MIM candidates in Bihar.

Yateen Oza was earlier in the Congress party, and fought elections against Narendra Modi in 2002, before joining the BJP.

He was also BJP President Shah’s lawyer in the Sohrabuddin encounter case.
