Tokyo: Japan has detected bird flu in a dead swan in the northernmost main island of Hokkaido, the government said on its website on Saturday.
It is the third case of bird flu discovered in Japan this year.
Health authorities will issue and order for chicken farms within a 30 kilometre radius from the site near Lake Saroma to disinfect poultry houses, the Kyodo news agency said.
