In a deeply disturbing case from Surat, Gujarat, a 41-year-old man allegedly poisoned his two young children before taking his own life after suspecting his wife of having an extramarital affair.

The deceased, identified as Alpeshbhai Kantibhai Solanki, was a schoolteacher in Dindoli, a locality in Surat. His wife, Phalguni Bhai, works as a clerk at the Zila Panchayat office.

Local media reports say that police have arrested the man’s wife and her alleged lover in connection with the incident.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh Gurjar, the incident came to light when Phalguni was unable to reach her husband over the phone.

Upon reaching their residence and finding the door locked, she called relatives who broke in — only to discover Alpeshbhai dead and their two children, aged seven and two, unresponsive on the bed.

A detailed suicide note spanning five to six pages, two diaries, and several videos were recovered from the scene.

"The note is addressed to his parents and wife and outlines the emotional distress he was experiencing due to the suspected affair," said the DCP.

One of the diaries reportedly contains specific details addressed to his wife, chronicling months of alleged turmoil.

The man's brother later filed a police complaint, naming Phalguni and a man identified as Naresh Kumar Rathod. He claimed Alpeshbhai had been under severe mental stress due to the alleged relationship

Investigators said the couple had frequent arguments related to the affair. Both diaries have been seized as part of the ongoing investigation, and forensic analysis is underway to corroborate the claims.

Further legal proceedings are expected as police delve deeper into the circumstances leading up to the tragic deaths.
