New Delhi: Suspected rebels blew up a bridge in eastern India on Tuesday, killing at least five policemen.
Police Inspector-General Amarnath Upadhyaya said police were escorting election officials when the blast occurred in the bridge in Bastar district in Chattisgarh state.
None of the officials were harmed but a police officer was wounded, Upadhyaya said.
Officials from India's Election Commission are in the region to hold polls for the state legislature.
