Bandaru Dattatreya’s son dies of cardiac arrest at 21

Hyderabad: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya’s family has suffered a major shock after his only son Vaishnav, 21, died of cardiac arrest early Wednesday. He was third year student of MBBS.

Family sources said Vaishnav complained of chest pain while having dinner at home in Ramngara area Tuesday night and was rushed to the nearby Guru Nanak Care Hospital where he died after midnight.

As the news spread, friends and supporters of Dattatreya started gathering at his residence. Telangana Governor ESN Narasimhan, several state ministers, members of parliament and leaders of various political parties were among them.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu spoke to him over phone and conveyed their condolences. Telangana Chief Minister K Chndrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed their shock over the death of Vaishnav.

“He was the only son and one can understand the grief of a father over such a loss”, Naidu said in his condolence message.

Vaishnav was cremated at Madannapet Shamshanghat in the afternoon. Dattatreya represents Secunderabad constituency in Lok Sabha and was a minister of state in Narendra Modi cabinet till last year.
