China allocates $29 million for quake relief

Beijing: China has allocated 200 million yuan (29.3 million dollars) for rescue efforts after a huge earthquake hit its remote northwest, killing at least 400 people, state media said on Wednesday.

The finance ministry said the money was for relief efforts after the quake of at least 6.9 magnitude rocked a mountainous area of Qinghai province early on Wednesday, injuring another 10,000 people, the Xinhua news agency said.
