Beijing: Explosions on two public buses killed two people and wounded 14 others on Monday in China's southwestern Yunnan province, police said.
The first explosion occurred at 7:05 am on public bus 54 in downtown Kunming city and the second at 8:10 am at a nearby intersection, the Yunnan Public Security Bureau said in a notice on its Web site.
The report said initial investigations determined the explosions were not accidents.
The official Xinhua News Agency said a destroyed bus was seen in front of a bus stop.
Police closed roads and set up checkpoints to prevent any suspects from escaping, the bureau said.
The explosions come just weeks before the start of the Olympic Games on August 8 in Beijing. Security around the country has been increased.
