May 2017: Trump hosts Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas at the White House, saying of a Middle East peace agreement: “We will get it done.”

December 2017: Trump says “It is time to officially recognise [occupied] Jerusalem as the capital of Israel”, effectively ignoring Palestinian claims on the holy city and breaking with the policies of his predecessors.

January 2018: Washington announces it will hold back $65 million earmarked for the UN relief agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA.

March 2018: Welcoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House, Trump halts Washington’s quest for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying he would back a single state if it led to peace.

August 2018: US cancels more than $200 million in aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

September 2018: Washington says it plans to cut $25 million in aid to hospitals primarily serving Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.
