Washington: US President-elect Barack Obama on Saturday announced parts of an economic recovery plan aimed at creating 2.5 million jobs by boosting infrastructure.

In his weekly radio address, Obama reflected on news that more jobs had been lost in November than in any month since 1974 and said that action is coming.

"We'll invest your precious tax dollars in new and smarter ways, and we'll set a simple rule - use it or lose it," he said.

"If a state doesn't act quickly to invest in roads and bridges in their communities, they'll lose the money," he added.
