Tegucigalpa, Honduras: Two unidentified men shot at a newspaper owner who once served as the head of security for the Honduran presidency, killing his 6-year-old granddaughter.

Police spokesman Leonel Sauceda says Lucas Manzanares was traveling in his car with his daughter Magda and granddaughter Adriana in the capital of Tegucigalpa on Saturday when two men on foot shot at him at least 30 times and then fled.

The 43-year-old Manzanares is the owner of the local newspaper La Tribuna.

He served as head of security for then-President Carlos Flores Facusse, who governed from 1998-2004.
