Johannesburg: A controversy is brewing in South Africa over a war memorial being constructed in the capital Pretoria.

The issue at the heart of the controversy is whether the 'Freedom Park' should list the names of soldiers of the former South Africa Defence Force, who were killed fighting anti-apartheid activists, alongside the names of the activists.

While opponents say that listing their names would be an insult to the memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle, supporters contend that it is an important move towards national reconciliation.
