Johannesburg: Former United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan cancelled a planned visit to Zimbabwe on Saturday after being denied travel visas to the country.
Annan, former US President Jimmy Carter and Nelson Mandela's wife, Graca Machel, planned to visit Zimbabwe to assess the humanitarian situation.
"We had hoped to go to Zimbabwe this morning but we had to cancel because the government has made it clear they will not cooperate," Annan said.
