Port Harcourt: Eight foreign oil workers were released on Saturday, hours after being kidnapped by gunpoint off a tanker, an official said.

No ransom was paid for the eight, said military spokesman Sagir Mussa.

He declined to give the nationalities of the freed workers.

Musa also said that two oil workers—a Filipino and a Nigerian—were kidnapped on Friday in a similar incident.
