UAE weather alert: Heavy rain reported over parts of Al Ain

Residents in the eastern and southern parts of the UAE may experience rainfall today, July 20.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), heavy rain was reported over Sa', Khatm Al Shiklah, and over Um Ghaffa in Al Ain.

The NCM also issued a yellow alert for convective clouds over eastern and southern parts of the country including Al Ain and Fujairah.

The alert also states there will be rainfall, and "fresh to strong winds at times causing blowing dust with a speed of 45 km/hr, from 1.30pm to 7.30pm Sunday, July 20."

The Abu Dhabi Police also issued an advisory for motorists to exercise caution due to the rainy weather. The advisory states, "Follow the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards."

The NCM also forecasts a probability of convective cloud formation eastward and southward of the country, associated with rainfall on Monday, July 21. Light to moderate winds with speeds reaching up to 40 km/hr is also forecast for Monday, which may cause blowing dust during the daytime.
