Sharjah: Sharjah has achieved a remarkable milestone — 99.7% of residents said they felt safe in the emirate in 2024. Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, praised this accomplishment, saying it reflects the wise leadership and clear vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

Major General bin Amer said the continued support and care from the Ruler have been vital in strengthening public safety, developing police readiness, and enhancing long-term security efforts — all in line with the UAE’s goals of building a safe, stable, and high-quality society.

He also highlighted the active role of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and the ongoing support of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, both Deputy Rulers of Sharjah. Their involvement has helped improve police performance and ensure that security strategies are focused on quality, teamwork, and community partnerships.

Major General Bin Amer extended his gratitude to the Sharjah Executive and Consultative Councils for their continuous backing, and also praised the Department of Statistics and Community Development for their accurate and professional measurement of public sentiment, which helped highlight these security achievements.

He emphasized that these results are the outcome of a unified and ambitious institutional effort, led by skilled police officers who work around the clock to keep the community safe. He also credited the awareness and cooperation of residents, saying their commitment to following laws and working with the police has played a key role in maintaining safety and making Sharjah a place where people enjoy a high quality of life.

Brigadier General Omar Ahmed Boualzoud, Director General of Criminal Security and Borders, added that all security indicators confirm the strength and readiness of Sharjah’s police force in dealing with challenges.

According to recent statistics:

  • Community trust in Sharjah Police: 97%

  • Feeling safe during the day: 99.7%

  • Feeling safe at home at night: 99.3%

  • Feeling safe walking alone at night: 98.6%

  • Feeling safe on the road (driving or using public transport): 98.9%

“These high levels of safety and trust are not just numbers,” Brigadier Boualzoud said. “They’re the result of a proactive and human-centered approach to policing — one that puts the well-being and security of people first.”

He said that strong public safety is the foundation of a truly sustainable quality of life, and that continued trust between citizens and police is something the force will keep working to protect and grow.
