Sharjah: The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) 2025 is back — and this year, it’s putting the spotlight on powerful communication that uplifts communities and protects cultural identity.

With 23 award categories, SGCA is especially encouraging entries for two important ones:

  • Best Communication Practice in Supporting Social Responsibility

  • Best Campaign Promoting Cultural Identity and the Arabic Language

Both awards aim to honour campaigns that go beyond words — initiatives that spark positive change, promote social values, and strengthen people’s connection to their culture and language.

Now in its 12th year, SGCA has grown into a global platform for excellence in government and public communication. In 2024 alone, it received more than 3,800 submissions from 44 countries. This year’s winners will be announced during the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in September, held at Expo Centre Sharjah.

Putting people first

Alia Bu Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, said the award continues to support meaningful communication that puts people at the heart of the message.

“These two categories reflect our commitment to promoting campaigns that serve society and protect our identity,” she said. “We want to celebrate efforts that strengthen ties between communities and their language, culture, and values.”

She added that Sharjah continues to lead initiatives that protect and promote the Arabic language — not just in media, but in all areas of government communication.

About the categories

Best Communication Practice in Supporting Social Responsibility

This award recognises campaigns — from governments, private companies, or international organisations — that have had a clear, positive impact on society. Winning entries will show strong planning, ethical communication, community involvement, and creative outreach. Judges will be looking at how the campaign made a lasting difference, formed partnerships, and raised awareness around important social issues.

There are 10 judging criteria, covering everything from innovation and digital tools to real-world results and ethical values.

Best Campaign Promoting Cultural Identity and the Arabic Language

In a time when many cultures are blending and languages are at risk of fading, this category honours those who protect and promote Arabic identity. Whether led by a government body, private organisation, or grassroots group, the campaign must highlight the beauty, power, and relevance of the Arabic language — especially for young people.

Entries should tell a strong story, use modern technology, and present a clear, culturally rich message. Judges will focus on content quality, impact, innovation, and how well the campaign inspired people to embrace their language and heritage.

How to apply

Anyone can enter — from anywhere in the world — as long as the campaign launched (or was significantly updated) in the past two years.

To apply, submit:

  • A 1,000-word description

  • A 250-word executive summary

  • Supporting materials (photos, videos, stats, reports)

All entries must be submitted by July 24, 2025, through the official website:
