The Dubai World Cup and Saks Fifth Avenue will present a fashion show featuring hats by Stephen Jones and the spring/summer 2004 collection from Alberta Ferretti at a Ladies Luncheon on March 26. This exclusive event will be held at the Mina Al Salam, Madinat Jumeirah, from 12 noon onwards.

Several Alberta Ferretti outfits, worn to this year's Oscars award ceremony by well-known stars, will also be presented at the show. The hats andgarments will later be available on sale by appointment only. For tickets to the luncheon, call 04-3322777.

British designer Stephen Jones is well known for his surrealistic and refreshingly eccentric designs. The fashion world took notice of him in the early 1980's when he designed a 'Fez' for Boy George in the video for Do you really want to hurt me. Since then he has designed hats to complement and enhance the collections of famous designers such as John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, Keita Maruyama, Julien Macdonald and Emanuel Ungaro. His celebrity clients range from pop icons Madonna and Kylie Minogue to members of royal families and his creations are part of the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and The Louvre in Paris.

Jones's hats are seen often at Ascot and other horse racing venues and the designer has been invited to be a judge for the Fashion on the Fields event on the eve of the Dubai World Cup. But, besides race wear hats, he will also showcase an exclusive range of dressy evening hats and dainty cocktail bonnets at the Ladies Luncheon.

The Alberta Ferretti spring/summer 2004 collection was inspired by the strong personality and incredible grace of Tanaquil Le Clercq, a famous French ballerina of the 1950's. Ferretti has translated the moving silhouette of the ballerina into a collection that is light, dynamic and elegant. The palette, marked by an absence of black, is a rich blend of yellow, beige, emerald, turquoise, purple, violet and chocolate hues. The Italian designer has used fabrics such as suede, crepe satin, georgette, satin weave and silk canvas and she has played with five different prints, block colours and bold contrasts to create a bright and colourful spring collection.

The collection will be available in the UAE exclusively through Saks Fifth Avenue, by appointment only.
