Dubai: Cool temperatures will endure in the UAE after some areas enjoyed a light drizzle on Monday morning. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that although it was unlikely to rain again, the cloudy and cool weather will continue.

As predicted by the weather bureau, many parts of the UAE experienced light rain early on Monday. The windshields of most vehicles were wet with traces of dirt and rain water.

Residents reported light rain in some pockets of Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

“It’s really cold today and it drizzled in Deira in Dubai and National Paints area in Sharjah early on Monday,” said a Sharjah-Dubai commuter.

“It is highly unlikely that it will rain again,” an official from NCMS said, “However, we are still looking at cloudy skies. Residents will enjoy the cooler weather as the drop in temperature will prevail. It will be even more chilly at night.”

Visibility may be impaired by the wintry climate with winds blowing 35-45km/h overland and 45-60km/h overseas. Winds are expected to weaken gradually during the night, while humidity will increase during that time and decrease by morning. Temperatures in the coastal area will reach an average high of 23 degrees Celsius and an average low of 15 degrees Celsius. Internal areas will experience an average high of 25 degrees and a minium temperature of eight to 14 degrees.

“The northwesterly winds will be moderate to fresh and strong over the sea, causing dust to blow over open areas, especially westwards,” he said, “This may reduce horizontal visibility at times.”

According to the NCMS forecast, the sea will be very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough in the Oman Sea.
