Dubai: The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said that overcast conditions are prevailing due to increasing cloud cover on Friday that produced light showers in and around Abu Dhabi.

Light rains and cloud cover will continue on Saturday in the western and northern areas of the UAE, say weather officials in Abu Dhabi.

On Friday, temperatures were forecast to reach a maximum daytime high of 39C along the coast, 44C inland and 32C in mountainous areas of the country.

Humidity was high along the coast, forecast up to 95 per cent on Friday, up to 80 per cent inland and 60 per cent in the mountains.

Light to moderate winds created dusty conditions in more exposed areas, said the centre, with winds gusting up to 34km along the coast and 45km in the mountainous areas.

Weather officials said Saturday’s forecast called for partly cloudy conditions over “some areas, especially over the Islands and some northern and eastern areas with a chance of light rain. Light to moderate winds in general, may freshen at times, causing some blowing dust over the internal exposed areas. Sea will be moderate to rough”.

Sunday’s forecast is for clouds to increase “over scattered areas, with a chance of some rain at times and a fall in temperatures. Winds will become moderate to fresh northwesterly in general over the sea and the sea becoming rough in general at times”.
