Abu Dhabi: Dense fog has blanketed many parts of the UAE on Monday morning, dropping the visibility to dangerous levels for motorists, weather officials have said.

“The visibility is too low, less than 50 metres. This is an extremely dangerous situation for motorists”, warned a duty forecaster at National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

Drivers must be extra cautious on the streets on Monday, he said.

“The fog has enveloped many areas in the UAE, from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi. All areas have been affected – including coastal and internal areas.”

The phenomenon started during the early hours of the morning, he added.

Today’s forecast says the weather will be misty/foggy over some areas in the morning, becoming fair weather in general during the day, to partly cloudy at times especially over the northern areas.

Light to moderate winds is also expected. The relative humidity is expected to increase by night and Tuesday early morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a chance of mist/ fog over some of these areas.
