A group of eight national women will attend a 10-day training course on vehicle maintenance and computers today.
The group includes government employees and housewives. It is organised by the Fujairah Scientific Club. Saif Mohammed Obeid Moali, Director of the club, told Gulf News this is the second course on vehicle maintenance for women. The club has been organising it for the past two years.
"The training course will be the first summer course for the young at the club. Eight women will be trained in vehicle maintenance and other skills, besides computers."
The course will be divided into four main parts. The first one will be on fixing sudden defects in a car.
The trainees will be introduced to the names of each part of the car transmission parts, circulation systems including fuel, cooling, oil, and brakes.
"They will be taught about the daily procedures which should be done before driving the cars to make sure the vehicle is in a sound condition," Moali said.
The second part of the training course will be dedicated to computers.
They will be introduced to computer parts and how to check the floppy and compact discs, managing data on the hard disc, using the printer and scanner and activating memories and assembling a whole system after learning the best specifications.
"They will be trained on using the latest version of word processing programmes and other software applications, in addition to teaching them something about computer hardware maintenance," he added.
The third part of the course will be dedicated to electronics and electricity. A workshop will be conducted on the safety precautions in dealing with the electrical devices, how to recognise some minor electrical defects at home, how to connect simple electrical circuits and how to create some of the electronic circuits.
"The last part of the training course is aimed at training them on some domestic skills. They will be taught how to take make good use of waste and some otherwise useless items often to be found in the home," he added.
