In line with the objectives of the UAE’s “Year of the Community,” the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) is organising the “Skills Camp” initiative from June 30 to July 24, 2025.

The camp will take place across multiple locations in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra, and Al Ain, aiming to enhance and develop the technical and vocational skills of Emirati citizens across all age groups.

The Skills Camp offers a diverse selection of courses and workshops across 19 technical and vocational skill areas. Designed specifically for Emiratis, it targets school and university students, as well as other community segments.

Expert-led training at ACTVET institutions

Held at ACTVET’s educational institutions, the camp will be conducted under the guidance of experts in technical and vocational education and training, ensuring a dynamic and enriching learning experience.

Supporting national capabilities and sustainable development

This initiative reflects ACTVET’s commitment to developing national capabilities and strengthening citizens' skills in line with global standards, supporting the UAE’s sustainable economic development goals.

Summer and winter program availability

The programme runs during both summer and winter breaks, offering participants valuable opportunities to acquire new skills and enhance their professional capabilities in an inspiring educational environment.

Locations and target groups

The programme will be held from June 30 to July 24 across four locations:

  • Abu Dhabi – Applied Technology Schools, Mohammed Bin Zayed Campus

  • Abu Dhabi – Applied Technology Schools, Baniyas Campus

  • Al Ain Region – Applied Technology Schools, Al Aqabiya Campus

  • Al Dhafra Region – Applied Technology Schools, Baynounah Campus

It is open to the following age groups:

  • Juniors: Grades 6 to 9

  • Seniors (High School): Grades 10 to 12

  • University students

  • Adults aged 24 years and above

In line with the Year of the Community, the programme has expanded to include elementary children in grades 3 to 5 across three skill areas.

Skill options include:

Health & Social Care, Industrial Control, Industrial Design Technology, IT Software, Solutions for Business, Mechanical Engineering CAD, Painting & Decorating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Renewable Energy, Website Technologies, Welding, 3D Designing & Printing, Automobile Technology, Autonomous Mobile Robotics, Car Painting, CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Smart Home Automation, Electronics, and Graphic Design Technology.

Hands-on training aligned with UAE job market needs

Skills Camp provides hands-on training in high-demand technical areas such as autonomous robotics, smart home systems, 3D printing, health and social care, web technologies, electronics, and renewable energy—all aligned with current and future UAE job market demands.

Engaging and interactive learning environment

Training takes place at ACTVET institutions and is delivered by expert instructors in an interactive environment designed to inspire curiosity and confidence.

EmiratesSkills National Competition highlights talent

The EmiratesSkills National Competition is the UAE’s premier event celebrating outstanding Emirati talent in technical and vocational skills. It inspires youth to embrace technology-based career paths and new trades.

SkillUp programme overview

SkillUp is divided into three categories:

  • Student programme: Focuses on teaching skills needed to start and run companies, along with 21st-century skills.

  • Volunteer programme: Offers membership in the Entrepreneurial Nation’s ambassador network, participation in events, certificates, and mentorship opportunities.

  • Teachers programme: Includes the above benefits plus participation in an educational trip to Silicon Valley, USA.

Four SkillUp tracks in phase one

  1. SkillUp Start – Targets students from grades 8 to 12 of all nationalities.

  2. SkillUp Enable – Develops business management skills in micro-entrepreneurs to improve project sustainability.

  3. SkillUp Compete – Features competitions to select the best and most creative startup ideas for growth support.

  4. SkillUp Experience – Provides opportunities for internships, fellowships, and similar programs.
